After the poor box office performance of Tom Cruise’s The Mummy, Universal put its horror remakes on hold. But the studio’s new take of The Invisible Man is finally moving forward, with a new actor set for the title role.
Deadline reports that Oliver Jackson-Cohen will play the new Invisible Man. He previously appeared in the Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House. The filmmakers reportedly liked Jackson-Cohen’s performance in the show, which helped him land his latest role. Jackson-Cohen’s other credits include the BBC drama Man In an Orange Shirt, as well as films like The Healer and The Raven.
Leigh Whannell, who previously worked on Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3, will write and direct the reboot. Whannell will also executive produce the film alongside Jason Blum from Blumhouse Productions and Kyle due Fresne.

The cast for The Invisible Man also includes Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer, and Storm Reid.
There have been some interesting changes to the project over the years since the days of Universal’s “Dark Universe”. During that time, Johnny Depp originally came on board to play the invisible character. However, the failure of The Mummy has scuttled those plans. Universal is now working on the films individually, with The Invisible Man leading the charge.
The Invisible Man has a release date of March 13, 2020. Are you excited to see Oliver Jackson-Cohen disappear into the lead role? Let us know in the comment section below!
