Quentin Tarantino Says His Star Trek Movie Would Have “Gangster Element”
The arrival of Quentin Tarantino to the Star Trek franchise is getting closer day by day. As soon as his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood promotional tour ends, it appears Tarantino’s Trek movie time will come. And he wants to deal it his own way. In a recent interview with Deadline, Tarantino revealed that his intentions are to bring his gangster element trademark to Star Trek.
“There is a gangster element to what we’re doing with the Star Trek thing that works out pretty good,” Tarantino said.

Then Tarantino addressed the fact that his movie would be R-rated, confessing that he is “not worrying about stuff like that.”
“The thing is, when I talked to JJ about it, it’s not that radical,” Tarantino added. “We’re just not worrying about stuff like that. JJ said, “Quentin, I love this idea because I think with Star Trek we can go any way we want to.” Look, I’ve got a situation. As long as Paramount likes the idea and the script they almost got nothing to lose right now when it comes to Star Trek. Deadpool showed that you can rethink these things, do them in a different way. So really, even before JJ knew what the idea was, his feeling was, if it wants to be an R rating, fine. If it wants to be the Wild Bunch in space, fine.”
The only risk about this movie is that, given Tarantino’s very particular vision of society and cinematography, this project could look better on paper than on screen.
