Comic-Con: Russo Bros. Talk Avengers: Endgame and More

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame!

One of the most anticipated panels at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con involved Joe and Anthony Russo. After all, what fan wouldn’t want to hear from the directors of Avengers: Endgame? It turns out they had plenty to say. Not only did they discuss the events of that film, but they also teased what the future holds for their careers.

Via Entertainment Weekly, fans were delighted when several Avengers cast members (including Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Paul Rudd) appeared onscreen via Skype to ask their own questions. For example, Evans wanted to know what Captain America did immediately after returning the Infinity Stones. The Russos initially joked that he “went to the bathroom.” As Scott Lang would probably say, even America’s bladder needs to be emptied.

But then, the brothers came up with some more serious answers. Specifically, they theorized that Steve and Peggy Carter tried for a baby or attempted to save Bucky Barnes from Hydra. They also believed it was possible that they tried to separate Hydra from S.H.I.E.L.D. entirely. Additionally, they suggested that Steve could find himself in the ice and the two could “take turns” playing the hero game.

The Russos then confirmed that Cherry is the next film they plan to direct. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, it will star Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland. No details about filming were revealed, but the logo can be seen via Sideshow Collectibles’ tweet below.

Other projects got a mention as well. The Russos will serve as producers on a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, which will feature Michael B. Jordan in the title role. And of course, Grimjack, Battle For the Planets and Magic: The Gathering got confirmations as well.

These projects don’t have release dates yet, but it sounds like the brothers have a lot on their plate outside of the MCU. That said, however, they wouldn’t mind a return someday.
