According to JoBlo, 26-year-old actor David Corenswet is rumored to be the frontrunner to play Superman for DC and Warner Bros., replacing Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel. Corenswet previously appeared in Netflix’s The Politician series and Amazon’s Affairs of State.
Cavill, who donned the cape in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League, recently said that he had “not given up on the role,” explaining that he felt he has a lot “to give for Superman yet.” Cavill reportedly parted ways with Warner Bros. in September 2018, and no one has officially replaced Cavill as Superman yet, though it appears that could be changing soon.

J.J. Abrams, whose banner Bad Company recently signed a first-look deal with Warner, has also reportedly had discussions with the studio to craft a new solo film for the Man of Steel with Michael B. Jordan having pitched his own vision for the role. However, chances seem low for the Creed star to take over the character as a new film isn’t expected to hit theaters before 2023 and Jordan doesn’t want to commit to the project as his schedule is already jam-packed and it won’t shoot for years, leaving the slot open for Corenswet to fill if that’s the direction the studio decides to take.
Corenswet is a relative newcomer to the Hollywood scene. What do you think about him potentially taking over the role of Superman? Sound off in the comments below!
