According to Reitman, the sequel “connects back to the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984”  seen in the first film. And “as the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters. Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”

Jason Reitman (JunoYoung AdultTully) directed the new film. He takes over from his father Ivan Reitman who helmed the first two and will produce. Reitman, who had a cameo in 1989’s Ghostbusters 2, co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan (Monster HousePoltergeist), who is no stranger to ghost stories.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife apparates in theaters on July 10, 2020.
