After much anticipation, Disney’s California Adventure park will finally open the doors to its Avengers Campus this summer. When it comes to their themed lands, Disney usually goes all out to make their guests feel like they’ve taken a step into their favorite fictional worlds. And this newest expansion is no different. If they’re lucky, visitors will even get to witness a certain friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swinging above the rooftops.
Disney Parks’ official blog has just revealed that their MCU-inspired attraction will feature an animatronic Spider-Man. The park’s mechanical webslinger will dazzle patrons by performing impressive acrobatic feats over the buildings that make up Avengers Campus. He’s also wearing a new suit designed by Marvel Studios’ visual development head Ryan Meinerding exclusively for the park.

The blog also shared a video that shows the robot Spidey in action. It’s unclear how they plan to make it realistically move like this in an outdoor park. However, there’s probably some pretty intricate wirework involved. It also helps that Disney has plenty of experience in the animatronics. Previously, Disney used this technology to create realistic depictions of characters in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora – The World of Avatar attractions.
Spider-Man is already expected to be a major presence when Avengers Campus opens this year. Aside from the animatronic Spidey, guests will also find the headquarters for the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (or W.E.B.), which is partially tasked with crafting upgrades for the wallcrawler himself. Spider-Man will also get his own ride, where visitors will shoot their own webs to stop a few spider-bots from running amok.
