Joker Gets a World Concert Tour Later This Year

Ahead of this year’s Oscars, Joker will soon take its act on the road to celebrate the film’s acclaimed soundtrack. Deadline reports that Joker will get an international orchestral tour this year, featuring composer Hildur Guðnadóttir’s award-nominated score. The first show is set to take place on April 30, with dates following in the United Kingdom in July. Other European and international locations will follow later this year. It will feature a full orchestra conducted by Jeff Atmajian, who also worked on the film’s original soundtrack. Senbla founder Ollie Rosenblatt will produce the event.

Guðnadóttir’s soundtrack for Joker has already picked up several awards. Over the past month alone, Guðnadóttir won the Original Music BAFTA award along with a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. Guðnadóttir is also nominated for an Academy Award as well.

Along with the announcement, Guðnadóttir shared her thoughts about the upcoming tour.

“I’m thrilled to get to see and hear Joker in the cinema with a live orchestra,” said Guðnadóttir. “When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions. It was a beautiful trip. I’m so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that, too.”

Director Todd Phillips also added his thoughts about the news.

“I speak for the entire Joker team when I say how thrilled we are to be working with Senbla and Ollie Rosenblatt on Joker – Live in Concert,” said Phillips. “I think it’s a wonderful way for audiences to experience Hildur Guðnadóttir‘s haunting and immersive score while bearing witness to Joaquin Phoenix’s descent into madness as Arthur,”

There’s currently no word about when or if the tour will make its way to the United States.
