Earlier this week, Hollywood said goodbye to Kirk Douglas, the iconic actor who passed away at the age of 103. Douglas’ life included military service, countless philanthropic efforts, and roles in several of the most acclaimed films of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Two days after his death, eulogies and tributes continue to pour in. Now, Ant-Man director Peyton Reed is also sharing his own memory of the onscreen legend.
Reed took to Twitter to share a picture of Douglas visiting the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2017. Douglas’ son, Michael Douglas, plays Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The black-and-white image shows the elder Douglas looking on as his son gets fitted for his own Ant-Man suit for the 2018 sequel’s flashback scenes. You can check it out for yourself below.

Back in November, Reed officially signed on to helm the third film in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man series. The film doesn’t have a proper title yet. However, it’s expected to hit theaters in 2022 or 2023, possibly as part of Phase Five of the MCU. Douglas, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michelle Pfeiffer will presumably reprise their roles from earlier movies as well.
