New Wonder Woman 1984 Pics Offer Fresh Looks at Maxwell Lord and Cheetah

Despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Warner Bros. remains committed to releasing Wonder Woman 1984 this summer. The studio recently unveiled a flashy new motion poster that proudly displayed the film’s June 5 premiere date. And now, via Collider, they’ve shared six new images from the highly anticipated sequel. You can check them out in the gallery at the bottom of the post.

Technically, most of these photos aren’t new. Fans previously got a glimpse at these scenes when the sequel’s first trailer arrived in December. There’s the infamous mall setting, where at least one big action set piece is going to take place. We also see a few stills of Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor taking in the splendor of the 1980s. But perhaps the standout offering is the shot of Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) getting a little too close for comfort.

Earlier this month, Warner Bros. halted production on its two biggest 2021 tentpoles, The Matrix 4 and The Batman, due to coronavirus fears. With several analysts predicting that the pandemic is still months away from getting reasonably contained, it seems inevitable that Wonder Woman 1984 will be delayed. The film certainly stands to lose money if WB opts for an early VOD release.
