Birds of Prey Will Hit Blu-ray and DVD In May

Even before COVID-19 began shutting down movie theaters all over the world, Birds of Prey wasn’t much of a box office draw. But perhaps the latest DCEU entry will have better luck on home video. Warner Bros. has just shared that the movie will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 12. You can check out the announcement via the film’s official Twitter account below.

It’s worth noting that the Blu-ray’s box art is keeping the original title: Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Shortly after its disappointing opening weekend, Warner Bros. rebranded the film as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey in an effort to boost ticket sales. But this strategy proved futile. Despite its largely positive critical reception, the movie has only managed to gross $201.9 million worldwide against a budget estimated to be as high as $100 million. Analysts predicted that it would need to make as much as $300 million to break even.

Warner Bros. previously gave Birds of Prey an early digital release last week, complete with a handful of special features. It looks like those same special features will be included on the home video release. You can view the full list here:

  • Birds Eye View Mode
  • Birds of Prey: Birds of a Feather
  • Grime and Crime
  • Wild Nerds
  • Romanesque
  • Sanity is Sooo Last Season
  • A Love/Skate Relationship
  • Gag Reel

In the meantime, it’s still not clear what the future holds for the film’s girl gang. Margot Robbie will once again reprise her role as Harley Quinn in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. However, the big screen fates of Huntress, Black Canary, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain remain unknown.
