Taika Waititi Offers Hints About Thor: Love and Thunder And Korg’s Love Life

Earlier this week, director Taika Waititi hosted an online viewing party for Thor: Ragnarok with some of the actors in the movie. He also took the time to tease his next movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Via Deadline, Waititi said that he has already written “four or five drafts” of Love and Thunder‘s script. He also teased that the sequel won’t be a “run-of-the-mill” movie that may be even more insane than Ragnarok‘s action comedy.

“It’s so over the top now in the very best way,” said Waititi. “It makes Ragnarok seem like a really run of the mill, very safe film…this new film feels like we asked a bunch of 10 year olds what should be in a movie and just said yes to everything.”

Tessa Thompson was also a guest for the viewing party. And while Thompson’s Valkyrie will look for her “queen” in Love and Thunder, she wanted to know whether Waititi’s Korg will also find romance.

“[Korg was] deeply in love and lost that love along the line,” answered Waititi. “He doesn’t feel brave enough to find love again.”

Additionally, Waititi did indicate that the film would explore some of Korg’s culture, as well as introduce Space Sharks. Waititi also unveiled some concept art from the film; which was reposted by a user on Twitter. It appears to show New Asgard, and a very different suit of armor for Korg’s pal, Miek.

To top things off, Waititi shared fake script pages in which Thor reunited with Iron Man after his death in Avengers: Endgame. Given the irreverent nature of the event, Waititi may have also been kidding about the Space Sharks. But we’ll have to wait until Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on February 18, 2022.
