Thirteen years after his final say with the Fantastic Four, director Tim Story is returning to the superhero genre, and he’s bringing frequent collaborator Kevin Hart along for the ride. Deadline is reporting that Story will direct Hart in Night Wolf, an upcoming superhero comedy from STX Entertainment.
Story and Hart have worked together on both the Ride Along and Think Like a Man series. Additionally, Story co-directed Hart’s stand-films Laugh at My Pain. Let Me Explain, and What Now? More recently, Story directed last year’s Shaft and Hart appeared in Jumanji: The Next Level.
Night Wolf is described as “a Meet the Parents-esque encounter” where Hart’s character meets his fiancée’s father for the first time. However, he soon learns that his in-law-to-be is actually the titular superhero. And because this is a Kevin Hart movie, hijinks will presumably ensue. Detective Pikachu screenwriters Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit penned the script for the film. Story and Hart will also produce through their respective Story Company and HartBeat Productions banners.

“Tim was our first choice for this project,” said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group. “His skill with both comedy and action, along with his long history of working with Kevin on both Ride Along films, both Think Like a Man films, and many of Kevin’s comedy standup event films made him uniquely suited for this material. He came in with a great take and STX and HartBeat couldn’t be more excited to get started.”
Night Wolf is still without an official release date.
