Back in 2014, director James Gunn made his big Marvel breakthrough with Guardians of the Galaxy and its lineup of misfit heroes. Gunn co-wrote the script, and his influence helped the Guardians become household names. While Gunn has praised Marvel Studios for the creative freedom he had on the film, Gunn recently shared one of the lines that he really regretted cutting.
Via Newsarama, Gunn revealed that the line in question involved Drax and his darkly comedic desire.
(in movie) Quill: I come from a planet of outlaws, Billy the Kid, Bonnie & Clyde, John Stamos.
Drax: Sounds like a place that I would like to visit.
Quill: Cool.
(cut) Drax: And kill many people there.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) June 29, 2020

Gunn also noted that he’s eager to find a way to get the line back into the film.
I so wanna George Lucas it back in I can’t tell you.

Currently, Gunn is working on The Suicide Squad for an August 2021 release. When Gunn finishes his work on that film, Marvel has him lined up for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
