Yet another member of the Justice Society has been found. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Quintessa Swindell has joined the cast of New Line’s Black Adam film. Swindle will play Cyclone, a key member of the film’s version of the Justice Society.
After playing a small role in Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come storyline, Cyclone made her proper debut in the pages of DC’s relaunched Justice Society of America series in 2006. Created by the all-star team of Waid, Ross, Geoff Johns, and Dale Eaglesham, she was introduced as Maxine Hunkell, the granddaughter of the original Red Tornado. After discovering her wind-manipulation abilities, Maxine was invited to join the Justice Society’s ranks.
Black Adam’s cast currently includes Dwayne Johnson as the title character, plus, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Sarah Shahi as an unnamed freedom fighter in Kahndaq. Now that Swindell is on board, the only Justice Society member who still needs to be cast is Dr. Fate.

Swindle is best-known for their role on Netflix’s Trinkets, which aired its second and final season earlier this year. They also have a role in HBO’s upcoming revival of In Treatment and will also appear opposite Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan in Neil Burger’s new sci-fi film, Voyagers.
After the coronavirus pandemic hit, New Line took Black Adam off the release calendar. The studio has yet to set a new release date for the film.
