Mondo Reveals Plans to Release DC Film & TV Soundtracks on Vinyl

It’s been almost two years since Mondo partnered up with Marvel Studios to release the soundtracks for every MCU movie on vinyl. Now, Mondo is getting ready to launch a similar initiative with DC. Mondo has just announced plans to release their own pressings of several DC soundtracks, starting with Rupert Gregson-Williams’ Aquaman score.

As with many of their other album releases, Mondo’s Aquaman soundtrack is also housed in a beautifully-designed tri-fold sleeve. Pascal Blanché designed the artwork, which prominently displays Jason Momoa’s Atlantean superhero on the front. Each of the three 180-gram translucent-colored records comes with unique splatter patterns. One of the discs also features a selection of bonus tracks and remixes, including Skylar Grey’s end-credits song “Everything I Need” as well as Pitbull and Rhea’s “Ocean to Ocean.”

“James Wan’s Aquaman is one of my favorite comic book films of the last 5 years,” said Mondo’s Mo Shafeek in a statement. “It’s a film that I personally had to see multiple times on the big screen just believe what I saw. And that achievement is equally owed to the brilliant Rupert Gregson-Williams for juggling the nearly impossible-to-replicate tone of the film. Always sincere, never ironic, always a good time – we are honored to celebrate this film and its score.”

While Mondo’s deal with Marvel only covers MCU films, their partnership with DC and WaterTower Music is much more comprehensive. Instead of just concentrating on contemporary DC movies and TV shows, it sounds like Mondo will be re-issuing soundtracks for the entire pantheon of DC releases. That includes a new version of John Williams’ original Superman score from 1978. The company is also working on new pressings of Benjamin Wallfisch’s Shazam! score and music from Doom Patrol’s first two seasons.

Mondo’s Aquaman soundtrack will be available on the company’s website starting on Wednesday, January 6. Which DC soundtrack are you most excited to own on vinyl? Let us know in the comments below!
