Thor: Love and Thunder Has Begun Filming in Australia

It’s been roughly a year and a half since Marvel announced Thor: Love and Thunder at Comic-Con in 2019. Now, the studio’s fourth standalone film starring the God of Thunder is finally getting underway. Earlier today, Chris Hemsworth confirmed that cameras have officially started rolling on Love and Thunder this week. Plus, he added a special message proving that he’s a hero both on- and off-screen.

Hemsworth made his announcement on Instagram with a photo that shows him posing with director Taika Waititi and several members of Australia’s indigenous population. For those unaware, today (January 26) is recognized as Australia Day, which commemorates the anniversary of England’s First Fleet landing in New South Wales in 1788. However, aborginal people generally see this “holiday” as a celebration of the genocide that led to their dispossession. In his post, Hemsworth called for solidarity by way of acknowledging the indigenous community’s plight. You can read his full caption below.
