Well, Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife has finally gotten its rating. Much to no one’s surprise, the film has been rated PG-13 in the US for “supernatural action and some suggestive references,” according to FilmRatings.com. The first two original Ghostbusters movies had previously received a PG rating, though Paul Feig’s 2016 version got a PG-13. The newest installment in the franchise features appearances from most of Ghostbusters‘ original cast almost forty years after its release. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts should reprise their roles from the first two Ghostbusters movies, much to the long-term fans’ delight. Apparently, the story connects back to the “Manhattan Crossrip” of 1984. And recently, Aykroyd even teased the possibility that the upcoming film might open the door to some other sequels.

In addition to the original Ghostbusters cast, Ghostbusters: Afterlife will star Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd. Reitman directed and produced the movie, taking after his father, Ivan Reitman, who helmed the franchise’s first two installments. Reitman also co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan. The movie had a long-gestated production and should debut in theaters in a few months. Its original release was scheduled for July 2020, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the producers to delay it three times. Now, Ghostbusters: Afterlife should haunt theaters starting Nov. 11.
