It’s been a long time since any official updates have been released about the next Indiana Jones sequel. However, it sounds like Disney and Lucasfilm are finally ready to move forward. On the official Disney Twitter account, it was announced that Indiana Jones 5 will be released next summer. Additionally, Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones will be joined by a new leading lady: Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Legendary composer John Williams will also be back to score the film.

Waller-Bridge is best known for her Emmy-winning turn in Fleabag. She also co-starred as the droid L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,” said director James Mangold in a statement. “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on July 22, 2022.
