Marvel Releases First Eternals Footage, Announces Phase 4 Sequel Titles

Out of nowhere, Marvel Studios has debuted the first footage for Eternals, as part of a larger reel about returning to theaters. The upcoming film directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao will debut on Nov. 5, and, after much anticipation, fans can finally have a first look at the protagonists. The video features a closer look at the movie’s huge ensemble cast, including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Don Lee, and Kit Harington. Gemma Chan will lead the cast as Sersi, unlike in the comics where Ikaris has usually lead the superpowered ensemble. The images are accompanied by a voice-over by Marvel’s godfather, the late and unreplaceable Stan Lee.

“I love being with people,” Lee says. “It’s the most incredible thing in the world, that world may change and evolve, but the one thing that will never change, we’re all part of one big family. That man next to you, he’s your bother. That woman over there, she’s your sister. We’re all part of one universe that moves ever upward and onward to greater glory.”

The recently released video also lines up the titles for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios has found the official titles for Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2, which will be titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels, respectively.

This year, Phase 4 will see the debut of Black Widow, which will hit theaters and Disney+ on July 9, followed by Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings on Sep. 3, and Spider-Man: No Way Home on Dec. 17. In 2022, fans will see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, Thor: Love and Thunder on May 6, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on July 8, and The Marvels on Nov. 11. The last titles announced so far are Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, scheduled for Feb. 17, 2023, and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, set for May 5, 2023.

The video ends with a Fantastic Four logo, which might tease that a movie with Reed Richards and the others is not that far away. (Alternatively, it works to simply indicate the current Phase 4 of the MCU).
