Paramount is finally ready to introduce the new-and-improved Snake Eyes. After the first images from the studio’s long-in-the-works G.I. Joe reboot began making the rounds earlier this week, the film’s star, Henry Golding, has taken to Twitter to share a new motion poster for the mute commando’s upcoming standalone adventure. He also announced that the first trailer will premiere during this Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. You can check out the poster below.

This isn’t the Snake Eyes that most G.I. Joe fans are probably familiar with. The film rewinds the clock to tell the silent warrior’s origin story, so it doesn’t look like Golding will be sporting the character’s skin-tight suit and balaclava (at least not until the very end, in any case). Regardless, we will see plenty of martial arts action and swordplay, especially between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The movie will also explore how their friendship turned into the bitter rivalry that it is today.

Apart from Golding, Snake Eyes also stars Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, and Úrsula Corberó as Baroness. If the film is successful, it will kick off a whole new series of G.I. Joe movies.
Robert Schwentke directed the spinoff from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Paramount will release the movie in theaters on July 23.
