After much anticipation, it finally happened. The late Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher will get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Starting 2022, her name will be among the ones immortalized on Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles, California. And it appears that one of the happiest people to see this achievement is Mark Hamill, who worked side-by-side with Fisher over the years in the original Star Wars trilogy and part of the new one. Hamill, who received his own star on the Walk of Fame in 2018, took to his socials to salute the 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame honorees, writing a special dedication to his late colleague.

Much love & a very special 1-finger salute to the incomparable, hilarious & irreverent force of nature that was my space sis Carrie Fisher. Her star will blaze from here to eternity. pic.twitter.com/9qAg5UFFGf— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) June 19, 2021

Fisher landed the role of Princess Leia in the original Star Wars in 1977. She portrayed the character for 40 years before she suddenly passed away in 2016. Her last official appearance as Leia Organa dates back to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017, but the producers used archival footage to make her appear in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
