Knuckles made his debut as a rival to Sonic in Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3. However, Sega gave Knuckles a co-headlining role in the follow up game, Sonic & Knuckles. Since then, Knuckles has largely been a friend and ally to Sonic.
Ben Schwartz played Sonic in the first film, which was an unexpected pre-pandemic hit in 2020. Schwartz was also joined by Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, with James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Tika Sumpter also co-starred as Tom’s wife, Maddie Wachowsk. Colleen O’Shaughnessey also provided the voice of Sonic’s partner, Tails, in a mid-credits scene.
Additionally, Shemar Moore recently joined the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in a mystery role. Most of the original cast is back for the sequel.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theaters on April 8, 2022.
