Angelina Jolie Says Marvel’s Eternals Is the “Biggest Thing” She’s Done

In the upcoming Eternals movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider vet Angelina Jolie will portray Thena, one of the most powerful members of the superpowered ensemble. It will be Jolie’s first foray into the MCU world, and it seems that even the Academy Award-winner felt a little impressed by Marvel Studios’ latest work. According to the actress herself, the scope and scale of the project are huge.

“It’s certainly the biggest thing I’ve ever done,” she said while talking with EW. “As somebody who’s directed, to watch the production try to manage it, it was a huge thing to take on.”

Jolie also confessed that most of the weapons Thena carries in the movie were digitally added in post-production. That’s why she felt puzzled at times.

“You’re just throwing your hand out as if you’re thinking, ‘Is that a sword? Is that a spear? Is it a lasso? What am I doing?’ Then you get into it and it gets really fun, but it’s a puzzle.”

Marvel’s Eternals will also feature Salma Hayek as Ajak, who can communicate with Celestials. The movie will likely fully introduce these powerful cosmic beings to the MCU, and it appears that Ajak will play a pivotal role. We’ve previously seen a dead Celestial’s skull in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ego claimed to be one in the sequel. But Eternals seems poised to really show what they can do.

“She’s the bridge between the Eternals and the Celestials, and it’s never easy to hold two sides together,” the actress said.

According to Disney’s current plans, Eternals will hit theaters on Nov. 5.
