Denis Villeneuve’s Dune won’t hit the United States until October, though it already debuted at the Venice Film Festival. Reviews have been generally enthusiastic, and its hype is skyrocketing. Now Warner Bros. has released a featurette to better introduce the complex world created by Frank Herbert in his 1965 work. The story of Dune is set in a distant future where an empire controls pretty much all beings. The emperor trusts some noble families with controlling and ruling part of his territories.
For example, House Harkonnen was charged with ruling Arrakis, a desert planet where the precious spice can be found, before the central government tasks House Atreides with taking on the vital deed. A new video focusing on the royal houses introduces some of the protagonists of the upcoming story, presented by the movie cast themselves. Additionally, it debuts plenty of fresh footage from the movie.

The official synopsis for Dune reads:
“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
Dune debuts in theaters and on HBO Max on Oct. 22.
