Paul Atreides Embraces His Destiny In Dune’s Final Trailer

Only two weeks remain until Dune is finally unleashed on the big screen. And to drum up some last-minute excitement, Warner Bros. has graciously unveiled the reboot’s final trailer. The latest preview offers a more well-rounded glimpse at the conflict between Houses Atreides and Harkonnen. It also teases a few thrilling set pieces lifted directly from Frank Herbert’s original novel. Check it out for yourself below.

The new trailer notably features more of Zendaya’s Chani. Via voiceover, she explains her people’s struggles against the Harkonnens, led by Baron Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård) and his nephew, Glossu Rabban (Dave Bautista). Regardless, the story largely belongs to Timothée Chalamet’s Paul, whose journey begins as soon as his family sets foot on Arrakis. Although Paul’s arrival evens the playing field, it comes with devastating consequences. And the trailer doesn’t waste any time in setting up the explosive nature of the fight for the planet’s soul.

Dune previously had its world premiere at last month’s Venice International Film Festival. So far, the early word on the film has been positive, with several critics highlighting its stunning visuals. Many of these visuals are on full display here, including glamour shots of Arrakis’ desert landscapes along with lakeside vistas found on Paul’s homeworld of Caladan.

However, the trailer definitely saved its most exciting moment for last. Just before the title appears, Paul brandishes a set of maker hooks to ride a giant sandworm. The worm itself is obscured by a cloud of dust, but that’s probably for the best. After all, some moments deserve to be experienced on something bigger than a laptop screen.

Dune hits theaters and HBO Max on October 22.
