Evangeline Lilly Praises Jeff Loveness’ Ant-Man 3 Script

Marvel officially began exploring alternate realities with WandaVision, Loki, and What If…?, and the adventure will continue on the big screen throughout the studio’s remaining Phase Four entries. For example, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has also managed to drum up excitement by bringing Kang the Conqueror to the big screen.

During an interview with Collider, Lilly provided an update on Quantumania, which is currently filming in London. The sequel also features a number of new additions, including Jonathan Majors as Kang and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. However, Lilly singled out the work of screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who also wrote several episodes of Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty. And while the Ant-Man series has recruited some top-notch screenwriting talent in the past, Lilly is particularly impressed with Loveness’ work on the new film.

“I think he’s one of the best writers we’ve ever had [and] I think he’s got an incredible mastery of voice,” said Lilly. “So, on the page, I could hear all the characters. And I knew that he’d really kind of harnessed each person’s unique personality. I just think that it’s going to be really special. I actually think it has the chance to be the best one we’ve done yet.”

Additionally, Lilly shared her thoughts on WandaVision.

“I think WandaVision was phenomenal,” added Lilly. “And I think it was probably the best they’ve ever represented a female character. It was so incredible to see her be so complicated and so flawed and yet so redeemable and so lovable, the way we have typically historically treated our male characters. I think it was an epic female protagonist story.”

“The science geek in me [also] loves that element of how smart they are and how they tackle such enormous topics that most kind of fluff popcorn movies are not going to tackle,” continued Lilly. “They tackled chaos theory. That’s really brave and really bold and really cool.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
