It won’t be long now before the world gets to see Timothee Chalamet wearing a Fremen stillsuit, as he conserves bodily moisture on the planet Dune. But after that, he’ll have to don some even wackier duds. Though admittedly, they may feel considerably more comfortable. As the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, in the upcoming musical simply entitled Wonka, it is his cinematic duty to don a purple coat, top hat, and whatever else the studio decides works. Today, on his social media channels, he gave a first-look at the Wonka costume. Click the picture below for the full image:

For fans of the book, it’s notable that once again, for the third time, a cinematic Wonka is without the character’s trademark beard. That’s a bit more excusable for a young Wonka, however.

Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, and Olivia Colman also star in the film. Our bet is that Atkinson will either play Wonka’s father, or archrival Slugworth. Paddington 2‘s Paul King directs. No word on whether or not Oompa-Loompas might appear, or who would play them. Controversially similar to Pygmies in the original book before Roald Dahl revised it, they became orange-skinned little people opposite Gene Wilder, and endless doppelgangers of actor Deep Roy against Johnny Depp.
