It’s time to fire up the Milano’s engines, because the Guardians are ready for their next adventure. Earlier today, Chris Pratt confirmed that Marvel has finally started production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Pratt shared the good news in a video posted on Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco Twitter account. The video was primarily a plug for a new Parks & Recreation podcast hosted by Rob Lowe and Alan Yang. But Pratt also used the opportunity to celebrate his first day on the set of the next Guardians film. Additionally, he showed off Peter Quill’s familiar mutton chops and facial hair combo. Check it out for yourself below.
A special message from @prattprattpratt and his sick-ass mutton chops. Listen to him dissect his #ParksandRec character, Andy Dwyer, on this week’s episode of “Parks and Recollection” with @RobLowe and @AlanYang: https://t.co/0ps1aJFd26 pic.twitter.com/wFH7PsxQrD

If Guardians 3 is officially underway, that means that the cast and crew are also working on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is expected to hit Disney+ at the end of next year and will tie into the events of the upcoming film. Additionally, Vol. 3 will introduce Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock into the MCU. However, Poulter’s character isn’t the only new addition to the cast, as James Gunn recently confirmed on Twitter:
Dozens of roles have been cast in #GotGVol3 https://t.co/KtSIv4mtsV

Update:
Gunn has indicated that while Pratt has reported to the set, the cameras aren’t rolling just yet.
Despite stories to the contrary, we haven’t started shooting #GotGVol3 yet (but we are pretty close).

Chris is on set and we’re rehearsing and doing camera tests and stuff – so it’s his “first day” like it was my “first day” many months ago – but actual shooting is a while off. Btw, I didn’t even know about this video when I first posted this. https://t.co/afqbXCyoFf

Additionally, Gunn confirmed that filming has begun for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the upcoming in-door roller coaster attraction currently being built at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023.
