Hannah John-Kamen Recalls Her Experience on Ant-Man and the Wasp

It’s been over three years since Ava Starr/Ghost appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018, but she arguably remains one of the most complex villains to ever grace an MCU movie. Her character was in constant pain as a result of the molecular instability that also endowed her with phase-shifting powers. That’s why it was easy for audiences to sympathize with her, even if she made ruthless decisions to find a cure. Ava’s survival means she could always return to the franchise at some point. But even if she never comes back, it sounds like Hannah John-Kamen will always cherish the time she spent on the film’s set. Hannah John-Kamen recalls.

John-Kamen discussed her Ant-Man and the Wasp experience in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. And aside from hinting that she knows when Ghost might pop up next, she also revealed her favorite memory from the shoot.

“Nothing beats my first day on set and just finally being there,” said John-Kamen. “Being in the room with all those movie stars and the sets and my costume, I look back at that and it was just the best experience. I couldn’t stop smiling and I was so welcomed. It was such a fun, free space to exercise the character. Every day was memorable, but nothing beats your first day. It’s like your first day at school.”

John-Kamen’s turn as Ghost notably opened the door for her to join several other high-profile projects, including Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City. But more importantly, she is still attached to headline Millennium’s Red Sonja reboot. And she also has a pretty good reason why she continues to pursue roles in big-name franchises.

“I just follow where my heart goes on scripts, character and story,” explained John-Kamen. “I’m a very character-driven and story-driven actor. But I think these franchises offer up really strong female characters, to be honest. So it’s very hard to not follow that and inspire myself with the roles that get offered.”
