Tom Holland and Zendaya Address Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Returning Actors

Warning: There are massive spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: No Way Home!

There can only be one Spider-Man on the big screen at a time. That was true until Spider-Man: No Way Home swung into theaters with both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Now that the secret is officially out in the open, Tom Holland and Zendaya are sharing their thoughts about appearing alongside these Spidey icons.

“Andrew Garfield, the legend himself. He’s such a lovely guy,” said Holland in an interview for Marvel.com. “I think this film was his way of making peace with Spider-Man It was such a privilege to work with him. I know that it meant a lot to him.”

“It was so beautiful,” added Zendaya. “[Tobey, Andrew, and Tom] care so deeply about the characters, and what their characters— what their journey had been as Spider-Man. It was so beautiful to see all of you guys connect on that and be able to talk to each other about such a special experience that very few people have been able to don the suit. It was great to see how much you guys all really cared and had each other’s back. It was really sweet.”

Holland and Zendaya were also effusive in their praise for Maguire.

“Man, [Maguire] was so funny,” said Holland. “He was really excited to be back. You could tell it really meant a lot to him. Him putting the suit on again. Us getting back together. It was awesome…He’s hilarious.”

According to Zendaya, she and Jacob Batalon snapped pictures of the three Spider-Men together on set.

“That first day, I was nervous for you,” admitted Zendaya. “We had to do a rehearsal, and me and Jacob felt like your parents…Like dropping you off at kindergarten for the first day. Like, ‘I hope the other kids like him.’ And like, ‘I hope he doesn’t come back crying.’ And so we were just there, and I was taking pictures of you guys so that you could have it. It was so cute…But yeah, [Maguire] was so lovely and hilarious. Unintentionally, sometimes.”

Finally, Holland offered his thoughts about sharing the screen with the MCU’s Daredevil/Matt Murdock, Charlie Cox.

“We had so much fun working with Charlie,” recalled Holland. “It’s really interesting doing a scene between two Super Heroes that has no real Super Hero stuff in it. Apart from the bit when he catches the brick. It was awesome…I loved working with Charlie.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now.
