It’s been 22 years since the Riddler menaced Batman on the big screen in Batman Forever. However, Paul Dano’s Zodiac Killer-inspired Riddler from The Batman is about as far away from Jim Carrey’s take as humanly possible. In this incarnation, Riddler isn’t flamboyant or flashy. But that doesn’t mean he’s above playing mind games with the Dark Knight. Riddler theme.
Director Matt Reeves has released a new track from Michael Giacchino’s The Batman soundtrack. And this time, it’s the Riddler’s theme. It starts slow, but it feels like it takes some inspiration from Danny Elfman and Shirley Walker’s Batman music.

Additionally, there are at least two other major characters in The Batman who are likely to have their own themes: Colin Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/Penguin and Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Presumably Reeves will also tease their musical cues in the weeks ahead, now that the film is less than a month away.
The Batman will hit theaters on March 4.
