As of now, April 1 is indeed the scheduled release date for Morbius, Sony’s loosely Spider-Man-adjacent film featuring Jared Leto as the “Living Vampire” of the comics. No fooling. The latest Morbius poster, however, might be misdirecting just a touch. It steps away from the previous marketing strategy, which emphasized Michael Morbius’ villainous nature, and split-personality a la Venom. The new one positions him as a “Marvel Legend,” with an image that implies more of a superhero with echo-location. And anyone who didn’t know better might not guess the evil eyes looming over Jared Leto in the background are in fact his own.
As Tweeted earlier this morning by Leto’s official account, here is the new Morbius poster in full:

The poster also offers more exposure to the supporting cast. That would be Tyrese Gibson as FBI Agent Simon Stroud, Matt Smith as Loxias Crown (who later becomes the vampire villain Hunger in the comics), Adria Arjona as Morbius’ fiancee Martine Bancroft, and Jared Harris as Morbius’ mentor Emil Nikos. Nikos in comics becomes Morbius’ first victim, later to be resurrected as a vampire by Baron Blood. Stroud frequently pursues Spider-villains like Morbius, Man-Wolf, and Kraven, and could quite likely cross over into other Sony Spider-verse movies. Meanwhile, Bancroft goes to extreme lengths to stay with her love even after his transformation.
