Kevin Feige Says Marvel is Ready To Make Plans For the Next Decade

At CinemaCon, Marvel Studios showed off the first few minutes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which opens next week. The early presales have indicated that the sequel may have the biggest opening weekend of the year-to-date. But Marvel is already thinking about the road ahead. Via IGN, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige told the CinemaCon crowd that Marvel’s leadership team would soon have their first retreat in three years. And they plan to map out the next decade of the MCU.

So what is there to talk about? To begin, Marvel Studios has barely begun to integrate characters who returned to the fold following Disney’s purchase of Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019. Jon Watts will direct Fantastic Four reboot and Shawn Levy will helm Deadpool 3. But neither of those films are on the official schedule yet. The Fantastic Four alone could open the door to more spinoffs, including Silver Surfer, while also introducing additional alien races and Galactus.

Then there’s the X-Men, the biggest franchise previously held by Fox. There are so many mutant heroes and villains that they could fill up a cinematic universe by themselves. If certain rumors are true, then a few of them may show up during the Doctor Strange sequel. But so far, the MCU hasn’t introduced any mutant characters or laid the groundwork for the X-Men relaunch.

Beyond that, the Blade reboot is on the way, along with Captain America 4 and Shang-Chi 2. Marvel also recently hired Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada to adapt Nova. And there are bound to be a few surprises along the way, as well as new Disney+ shows.
