Dan Stevens Will Star in Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel

Legendary’s next MonsterVerse entry has just found one of its new leading men. Deadline is reporting that former Legion star Dan Stevens has booked a major role in the studio’s follow up to Godzilla vs. Kong.

Director Adam Wingard was invited back to helm the sequel after Godzilla vs. Kong earned mostly positive reviews and made over $468 million at the global box office. The latter was no small feat, since the film was released day-and-date with HBO Max while the pandemic was still raging. The last film memorably ended with the titular beasts ultimately putting aside their differences to fight Mechagodzilla before going their separate ways. In the end, Kong was left to rule Hollow Earth, with Monarch observing his every move.

Aside from his three-year stint playing David Haller on Legion, Stevens is known for appearing in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake and, more recently, the German sci-fi film I’m Your Man. He previously worked with Wingard on 2014’s The Guest. Right now, Stevens can be seen in the Starz limited series Gaslit, which premiered last month.

This isn’t the only new MonsterVerse project currently in the works. Apple TV+ is also developing a spinoff series that will shed new light on the Monarch organization. However, we still don’t know if any future installments will feature the return of established characters like Millie Bobby Brown’s Madison Russell or Alexander Skarsgärd’s Nathan Lind.

Warner Bros. hasn’t announced a release date for the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel. However, production will reportedly begin in Australia this summer.
