Surprisingly, Jamie Foxx has steered clear of the horror genre for most of his professional life. But if you’ve ever wanted to see the Oscar winner tangle with an army of vampires, today’s your lucky day. Netflix has released the first trailer for Day Shift, a new action comedy that pits Foxx against legions of the undead.
Foxx stars in the film as a seemingly well-to-do pool cleaner living in the San Fernando Valley. But unbeknownst to everyone else, his rather underwhelming career choice is actually a cover for his real job hunting vampires, extracting their fangs, and selling them to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, his destructive antics get him kicked out of his union, putting his family’s financial future in jeopardy. But when he’s given one more chance to prove himself, Foxx will team up with Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg to hunt the top bloodsucker in town.

The new film counts stuntman and John Wick director Chad Stahelski as one of its producers, so we can expect no shortage of thrilling action and fight choreography. It also marks the directorial debut of J.J. Perry, who has previously worked as a stunt coordinator on several installments of the Fast & Furious saga. Shay Hatten, a co-writer on Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, wrote the screenplay with Tyler Tice. The supporting cast also includes Karla Souza, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, and Zion Broadnax.
Day Shift will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, August 12.
