ComingSoon.net: Here’s Silas…

3:00
Silas Lesnick: Winter is here! The cast is taking the stage.

3:00
Silas Lesnick: Prior to the panel, they ran a montage of every death during the series’ first three seasons.

3:01
ComingSoon.net: No spoilers warning? 🙂

3:01
Silas Lesnick: Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are the first out.

3:02
Silas Lesnick: Followed by Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, John Bradley…

3:02
Silas Lesnick: …Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Emilia Clarke and, finally, author George R.R. Martin!

3:03
Silas Lesnick: “I have many characters,” jokes Martin, “So it’s not hard to kill a few.”

3:03
Silas Lesnick: But he says that he’ll only take some of the “bloodthirsty blame” because they’ve been killing characters that haven’t died in the books.

3:04
Silas Lesnick: Benioff is talking about what a hard thing it was to do to shoot “The Red Wedding”.

3:05
Silas Lesnick: Even though everyone knew it was coming, everyone was crying on set all day.

3:05
Silas Lesnick: Madden remembers crying on his flight home with people on the plane just staring at him.

3:05
Silas Lesnick: “It’s July and I kind of feel like I should be doing something,” he jokes.

3:06
Silas Lesnick: Fairley jokes, “I knew how many years I signed for, so I knew what was coming.”

3:06
Comment From Fanamir
Who, George?

3:06
Silas Lesnick: No, Madden, sorry 🙂

3:07
Silas Lesnick: Dinklage avoids the books because he doesn’t want to know what happens. But he’s looking forward to reading them all after the show is done.

3:07
Silas Lesnick: “You become a dragon,” Benioff jokes to him.

3:07
Silas Lesnick: “I would breathe fire in every scene if I knew that!” laughs Dinklage.

3:08
Silas Lesnick: Sorry, missed Rose Leslie come out. She’s on stage, too.

3:09
Silas Lesnick: She’s talking about losing Snow and how much it affected her on-set.

3:09
Silas Lesnick: “I’m going to hunt him down,” she says, “and hurt him.”

3:11
Silas Lesnick: “It was phenomenal season to film” says Clarke.

3:11
Silas Lesnick: “You think she’s peaking in episode five and then that final episode was just absolutely exhilarating to film.”

3:12
Silas Lesnick: “They lifted me up and it just naturally brought me to this grin.”

3:13
Silas Lesnick: Jason Momoa just surprised everyone by running out on stage!

3:13
Silas Lesnick: “I’m not dead!” he shouted, kissing Clarke on the head and running out!

3:13
Comment From Sci Fi Sally
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee

3:14
ComingSoon.net: Awesome 🙂

3:14
Silas Lesnick: Benioff said that the Red Wedding was the point that they were praying they’d be able to reach all series long.

3:16
Silas Lesnick: Fairley likens the writing on the show to a piece of music.

3:17
Silas Lesnick: She says that, in that sense, the Red Wedding was like a key change and literally gave her a chill.

3:18
Silas Lesnick: Benioff is talking about “Rains of Castamere” and how much he loved the song.

3:18
Silas Lesnick: At one point, he was arguing for it to actually just be the show’s theme so that audiences would take notice when it played.

3:18
Silas Lesnick: “Thank god I lost that argument,” he says.

3:20
Silas Lesnick: Bradley is talking about Sam and his transition throughout the series.

3:21
Silas Lesnick: “You find that when he’s placed with a bit of responsibility,” says Bradley, “Sam is a bit of a dude.”

3:22
Silas Lesnick: Now that Sam is a father figure, he’s reflective of the other characters that Sam has looked at paternally.

3:26
Silas Lesnick: “It says so much about an actor when you can’t image another actor playing that role,” says Dinklage, “That, to me, is Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister.”

3:26
Silas Lesnick: Dinklage says Dance gives him a shoulder rub after every scene they do together.

3:27
Silas Lesnick: “You’re only as good as the actors you work with,” says Dinklage, “And I’m working with some really good ones.”

3:28
Silas Lesnick: Martin had previously joked that he was going to a country without television when “Red Wedding” aired.

3:28
Silas Lesnick: He soon discovered, though, that “there are no countries without television.”

3:28
Silas Lesnick: He says he’s had people curse him to his face and swear they’d never buy another book. But, he adds, usually they still do.

3:29
Silas Lesnick: Benioff says that he’s really impressed by the internet’s ability to self-police spoilers.

3:29
Silas Lesnick: “There’s always going to be a few douches on message boards who want to ruin everything,” he says.

3:30
Silas Lesnick: Weiss says the first season was really a test case. They didn’t know how the Ned Stark twist would play out as far as spoilers go.

3:33
Silas Lesnick: Clarke says she’s constantly in awe of how much Daenarys keeps changing

3:33
Silas Lesnick: and season four will continue that in a major way.

3:35
Silas Lesnick: Madden is saying that, while he knew what was coming to some degree, he felt it was necessary to stay in the moment.

3:36
Silas Lesnick: They’re about to show a never-before-seen deleted scene from Season Three.

3:36
Silas Lesnick: It takes place before the first small council meeting in which Tywin is the hand of the king.

3:36
Silas Lesnick: Normally scenes get deleted because they don’t like them, but this one they loved.

3:40
Silas Lesnick: The scene has Tywin fishing and he’s approached by Julian Glover’s Pycelle, offering an intense conversation about the state of the kingdom.

3:41
Silas Lesnick: Tywin very quickly reminds him who’s in charge, though, and ultimately sends him back to clean his fish.

3:42
Silas Lesnick: Dinklage says they’ll be back to shoot in Dubrovnik for three weeks this year. He had never heard of it before GoT and now it’s his favorite place.

3:43
Silas Lesnick: Martin says the series is like a locomotive coming down the tracks while he’s still laying them.

3:43
Silas Lesnick: “They’re not here yet, but I can see the smoke on the other side of the hill.”

3:44
Silas Lesnick: Martin said he doesn’t want to do an immediate prequel, but he might go back significantly further into Westeros history.

3:45
Silas Lesnick: He thinks there’s a lot of great stories to be told, but anything right before the first book would just seem “like connecting the dots”.

3:48
Silas Lesnick: Martin says that sometimes he’ll mention little things to actors about what’s going to happen when he visits the set, but that most don’t want to know.

3:49
Silas Lesnick: That’s it for Game of Thrones! Check back soon for Sony’s Panel!
