Tyler Bates to Score Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Director James Gunn revealed on his Facebook page today that composer Tyler Bates will be providing the score for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn also revealed that Bates likes to write some of the music for the film beforehand allowing Gunn to play the music on set for the cast and crew during the filming of scenes.

Bates has been a longtime collaborator with Gunn, having worked on both of his previous feature films Slither and Super. He’s also no stranger to comic book films having provided the music for 2011’s Conan the Barbarian, Watchmen, and 300.

Guardians of the Galaxy features an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. Directed by James Gunn, the August 1, 2014 release stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Honsou, Gregg Henry, Glenn Close and John C. Reilly.
