Comic Book Basis for 300: Rise of An Empire Won’t Release Alongside Film

In a report from ICV2 (via THR), Miller is said to have only completed two of the five issues for the series, which is still titled “Xerxes.” The reason behind the delay is his Hollywood commitments, including co-directing Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but Miller has said he will return to the book when he’s completed work on the film. A source from Dark Horse Comics spoke about the two completed issues though, calling them “outstandingly beautiful.” As a result of Miller’s heavy workload and the delay in completing the comic, it won’t launch alongside the film when it is released next year.
