Lex Luthor Joins DC Comics’ Justice League

Following their current event series “Forever Evil,” DC Comics will be moving things around for some of their titles and nothing is more surprising than the latest news – Lex Luthor will be joining the Justice League. Luthor will also be bringing along former Rogues member Captain Cold to the team, which will also feature Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam and Cyborg.

“Is he going to lead the Justice League? It depends on whom you ask on the team. Certainly, he thinks he should,” series writer Geoff Johns told The AP. “The Justice League is going to go through a lot of changes, obviously, in the wake of ‘Forever Evil,’ a lot of the blame can be put on their shoulders for what has happened: They were infiltrated and they fought each other and that led to the unleashing of the Crime Syndicate and the evil that took over the world.”

But as Johns points out, Luthor will have to face the consequences of being a hero without a mask.

“I think the most interesting thing is that Lex doesn’t realize what it’s like to be a super hero, what the life is like. You make enemies, they attack you on a personal level. And he’s just Lex Luthor. He has no codename, no mask, he has to deal with the ramifications of that.”

Written by Johns with art by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, Luthor will make his Justice League debut in Justice League #30 this April.
