Another DC Comics property is heading to the small screen as Deadline reports that Warner Bros. TV is developing a pilot for a series titled “Titans,” based on DC’s “Teen Titans” team. The site says that the series is near a pilot order at the network with the Academy Award-winning Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) scripting alongside Marc Haimes.
“The action series centers on Dick Grayson,” the outlet writes, “who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.”
The Teen Titans celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, having first appeared in “The Brave and the Bold” #54. A team comprised of young superheroes, the Titans have changed rosters quite a bit in the comics and many younger fans actually know the characters best for their 2003 animated series. More recently, an animated take on the characters aired on Cartoon Network under the title “Young Justice.”
If it moves forward, “Titans” will join a crowded slate of DC television series, including “Arrow” and “The Flash” on The CW, “Gotham” on FOX and “Constantine” on NBC.
