Variety brings word this afternoon that The CW’s “The Flash” has added yet another former cast member of the short-lived CBS “The Flash” series. Amanda Pays will be playing Dr. Tina McGee, the same character she portrayed originally! Pays joins actor John Wesley Shipp, who played Barry Allen in the original series and who takes on the role of Allen’s father in the new series.
“When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of ‘The Flash,’ who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part?” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. “Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen.”
Pays appeared in all 22 episodes of the original series as Dr. McGee, a scientist originally created by Mike Baron and Jackson Guice in the original source material. Though the character worked for S.T.A.R. Labs in the 1990 series, the outlet reports she’ll be working for a rival tech firm that takes an interest in Barry Allen’s abilities. Perhaps Kord Enterprises?
Set to premiere on October 7, “The Flash” will air on Tuesdays this fall.
