Meet Jim Corrigan in New Images from NBC’s Constantine

Back in September, it was revealed that Emmet Scanlan had joined the cat of NBC’s “Constantine” as none other than Jim Corrigan, a character that in the source material was the first host for the nigh-omnipotent Spectre, a vengeful spirit tasked with confronting evil.

In the upcoming fifth episode of the series, Scanlan will make his debut as Corrigan and you can check out the first images of him in the gallery viewer below. It’s unclear when or if Corrigan will become his alter-ego on the series, but Scanlan has signed on for a recurring role in the new series. The fifth episode of the series is titled “Danse Vaudou” and is officially described as follows:

“In New Orleans, Constantine’s unusual knowledge of a string of crimes gets him into trouble with Detective Jim Corrigan. He must form an unholy alliance with Papa Midnite when a voodoo ritual to help people communicate with their dead loved ones takes a deadly turn.”

Corrigan made his first comic book appearance in 1940′s More Fun Comics #52. A police officer, Corrigan is murdered by criminals. When his soul refuses to enter the afterlife, however, he returns as a powerful supernatural defender of justice. The character has come into conflict and at the aid of John Constantine a number of times in the source material.
