Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is Shooting with IMAX Cameras

After several eyewitnesses spoke of seeing IMAX cameras on the Chicago set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a spokesperson for the company has confirmed to Variety that portions of the film will indeed be shot in the large screen format.

This will mark director Zack Snyder’s first use of the cameras, though some of his past films, including Man of Steel and Watchmen, have been screened in IMAX venues. This will stand as the seventh studio movie to be shot with IMAX cameras, including the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Twitter user Mike Eisenberg posted to his account that, “Batman vs Superman has multiple IMAX cameras and they aren’t working right because of the cold. Welcome to Chicago.”

Since Snyder’s production moved to the Windy City, there have been many reports from bystanders on location, including what appears to be another re-enactment of the iconic murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents.

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Jena Malone, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
