Though he’s been optimistic for months about a potential return, Frank Grillo recently spoke with EW and said he’s been all but officially invited back for the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War.
“[Winter Soldier] was only a taste of what’s to come with the next film, and I couldn’t be more humbled and excited,” Grillo said. “They just kind of called and said, ‘What kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan.’ They scan your body so that whatever you wear fits you like a glove….We all know what Crossbones represents in his world, so when they called me and said we gotta do the body scan, I was like ‘Okay!’”
Grillo’s Brock Rumlow isn’t the only Marvel character that’s returning for the film as Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Tony Stark and Jeremy Renner says there are “whispers” of Hawkeye making an appearance. Alongside those characters are Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role and Chadwick Boseman who will make his MCU debut as Black Panther, before getting his own solo film in November of 2017.
Written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and is set for release on May 6, 2016.
