The Visual Effects Society has announced the nominees for the 13th Annual VES Awards, their yearly celebration that recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials and video games with a number of notable nominations for some of the year’s comic book and genre based fare.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Big Hero 6 both landed six nominations with Interstellar gaining four nominations; X-Men: Days of Future Past, Edge of Tomorrow and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies gained three nominations each; Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The LEGO Movie netted two each; and Transformers: Age of Extinction received one.
On the television side, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Constantine,” and “The Flash” were all nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Photoreal/Live0Action Broadcast Program.
