The road to Secret Wars 2015 continues and Marvel Comics has announced even more tie-in titles for their mammoth event series.
Inferno is the first new title announced which takes place under the “Warzones!” banner of tie-ins. Written by Dennis Hopeless with art by Javier Garron, the series goes back to the 1988 “X-Men” event series “Inferno,” in which demons invade New York City. This series will differ from the original, though, as the X-Men will no longer be victorious in their fight and will put its focus on Magik and her brother Colossus.
Next is Where Monsters Dwell which teams writer Garth Ennis with artist Russ Braun. The series will focus on Silver Age hero the Phantom Eagle, whom Ennis previously penned in a MAX series. Ennis describes the series as “an old-fashioned, rip-roaring adventure with a strong streak of humor running through it,” which will see the Phantom Eagle taking on dinosaurs.
Current Spider-Man readers should take note of the next series as it spins out of the currently-being-published event “Spider-Verse.” Writer Mike Costa will spin this yarn with art by Andre Araujo that stars new addition Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man India, Anya Corazon, Spider-UK, and Spider-Ham, plus “a ton” of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery.
We’ll also see Planet Hulk from writer Sam Humphries and artist Marc Laming. Though it shares a title with a previously-published event, it takes the title literally and sees a gladiator named Steve Rogers and his companion Devil Dinosaur enter a warzone filled to the brim with actual Hulks.
Finally (via MTV), fan-favorite writer Brian Michael Bendis will revive the classic story Old Man Logan with artist Andrea Sorrentino. It will pick up where the Mark Millar comic series left off.
Secret Wars is set to kick-off this May from writer Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic. It will see the main “616” Marvel Universe combine with the Ultimate Universe to create an all-new continuity moving forward.
