Production on the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel is gearing up for production and the title for the sequel may have been revealed. Los Angeles Clippers player J.J. Redick appeared on Grantland’s “The Lowe Post” podcast (via Shockya) where he spoke about filming a scene for the movie and revealed it will be titled Teenage Mutant NInja Turtles: Half Shell.
This remains unconfirmed as the official title however, as “Half Shell” could be the production code name being used. Check back here as we learn more and listen to Redick’s reveal in the player below at the :45 mark.
Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form will return to produce the upcoming sequel which features a script by returning screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec. Megan Fox will reprise her role of April O’Neil along with William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. The original film also starred Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Danny Woodburn, Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub. It grossed more than $485 million at the worldwide box office.
Though unconfirmed, previous reports on the sequel have alluded to the inclusion of the likes of Bebop and Rocksteady or even the interdimensional Krang as potential villains.
Set to be directed by Earth to Echo‘s David Green, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set for release on June 3, 2016.
