Jurassic World just toppled the all-time best opening weekend record after grossing $208.8 million at the North American box office, passing 2012’s The Avengers ($207.4 million). Being a good sport, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige today tweeted the following congratulatory message to the makers of the film, not least of which includes his Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. The artwork is by Marvel conceptual designer Andy Park.

Playing in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, Jurassic World offers a terrifying sci-fi adventure set 22 years after the events of Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 Michael Crichton adaption, Jurassic Park.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The LEGO Movie), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help, Spider-Man 3), Ty Simpkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3), Jake Johnson (Let’s Be Cops, “New Girl”), Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer), Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Daredevil,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), BD Wong (Jurassic Park, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Intouchables), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Tomorrowland), Katie McGrath (NBC’s “Dracula,” “Merlin”), Lauren Lapkus (Blended, The To Do List) and Andy Buckley (Bridesmaids, The Other Guys).
UPDATE: Did you know that there’s a fun history when it comes to congratulations letters like this? When Star Wars overtook Jaws‘ box office in 1977, Steven Spielberg graciously ran a full page letter in Variety. Lucas returned the favor when, in 1983, E.T. overtook Star Wars in home video rentals. After the Special Edition re-release in 1997, Star Wars was back on top and E.T. himself handed the crown to R2-D2. Then, in 1998, Titanic became the biggest film of all time and Lucas passed the torch to James Cameron. Check out all five designs in the gallery viewer below!
