Straight from the Warner Bros. Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con comes the news that the upcoming “Green Lantern” reboot will be officially titled Green Lantern Corps. It’s unclear who will be the primary protagonist or protagonists of the film, but between Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner, plus thousands of alien Lanterns, the possibilities are endless.
Two weeks ago, actor Tyrese Gibson teased some sort of Green Lantern announcement with an Instagram post of fan art of himself and Chris Pine as Green Lanterns.
“There are certain things I can’t speak on,” Tyrese told Entertainment Tonight. “But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”
It’s unclear which of these Lanterns could appear in earlier DC Comics films, as there’s always a change they might show up in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but one of them will no doubt appear in Justice League: Part One, set for release November 17, 2017, and Justice League: Part Two, set for release June 14, 2019. Green Lantern Corps is currently slated for a June 19, 2020 release date, which is still subject to change.
