With just days to go before Marvel Studios’ latest cinematic superhero hits the big screen, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype is celebrating with a week of exclusive video interviews with the cast and crew of Ant-Man. Following our conversation yesterday with Corey Stoll (who plays the film’s villain, Darren Cross), we’ve got a chat with Peyton Reed, the director of the Marvel Cinematic Universe “Phase Two” capper. Peyton Reed’s first feature film was 2000’s cheerleader comedy Bring It On, followed by the ’60s Doris Day and Rock Hudson sex comedy homage, Down with Love, and the Jim Carrey-led Yes Man in 2008. Ant-Man is a homecoming of sorts for Peyton Reed, however, as he’s been a lifelong devotee of comic books and, as he explains in the below interview, Ant-Man isn’t even the first superhero he directed!
Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd (This is 40, They Came Together), Evangeline Lilly (“LOST,” The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies) and Michael Douglas (The Game, And So It Goes) and brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
The Ant-Man cast also features Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Wood Harris, Judy Greer and David Dastmalchian. Check back later this week week for more insight from stars Peña, Dastmalchian, Lilly and Scott Lang himself, Paul Rudd.
